Two heads are better than cable...and HI's 'Weekly Gallimaufry'.

Verizon comes to my house at least bi-monthly asking me the same questions.  Here's pretty much how the conversation went today:

Verizon Lady:  Hi there!  I wanted to let you know that Verizon ran FIOS in your neighborhood.  I came here earlier and the two young people leaving said everyone was sleeping so I decided to come back later.

Me:  Ok - what can I do for you?

Verizon Lady: I see here that you have Verizon internet, right?

Me: Yup.

Verizon Lady: And who's your cable provider?

Me: We don't have cable.

Verizon Lady: *blink blink*

(long pause)

Verizon Lady: So...what...do you do?

Me: Well we don't have electricity, so...

Verizon Lady: You don't?

Me: Nope.

Verizon Lady:  Well then...how do you use your internet?

Me: We power the house by bicycle.  Everyone takes turns.  That's why we were napping earlier...gets pretty tiring.

Ok...maybe that's not *exactly* how it went...but that's how it should have gone.  And next time they come to my door, that's probably how it's going to go.

Why don't they take notes?  You come to my house every other month and ask the same questions...doesn't anyone keep track of the answers?

Here's really what happened:

Verizon Lady:  Hi there!  I wanted to let you know that Verizon ran FIOS in your neighborhood.  I came here earlier and the two young people leaving said everyone was sleeping so I decided to come back later.

Me:  Uh...I think you have the wrong house.  There are no younger people that left here earlier.

Verizon Lady: No, it was this house...they were leaving in a red car.

Me: Um...nope.  That wasn't anyone from here.

Verizon Lady: Ok well...I see here that you have Verizon internet, right?

Me: Yup.

Verizon Lady: And who's your cable provider?

Me: We don't have cable.

Verizon Lady: *blink blink*

(long pause)

Verizon Lady: So...what...do you do?

You really would have thought I had two heads.  I forget, sometimes, just how crazy it must sound to some people to not have cable tv.  I think it's pretty crazy to spend tons of money on a bunch of channels I'm not really going to watch.

I'm not Amish or anything - we just stream Netflix or Hulu.  Geez.

And now for...

We have a lot of stupid words that no one uses in the English language...I decided to adopt one of those words.  Just doing my job to promote literacy in America.  You're welcome.
